Behind the Scenes: Where My Stories Begin
Updated: 4 days ago
Every book begins with an idea, a little imagination, and the desire to share a story.
For me, many of those ideas come to life right here at my writing desk, surrounded by manuscripts, illustrations, notes, and all the little things that inspire me.

A Look Inside My Writing Space
My desk may look busy, but it's where I spend countless hours bringing my stories to life.
In the photograph, you can see pages of To Catch a Fairy, its colorful book cover on my computer, and printed materials waiting to be reviewed.
Two of my favorite writing gifts are a candle that says "Smells like she's writing a bestseller" and a mug that says "A writer is a world trapped in a person."
Both were gifts from my daughter Satina, who is also an author. She wrote The Innkeeper's Wife, and I had the pleasure of selling a case of her books at a Pride of Dakota event.
These little reminders make my workspace special.
From Imagination to the Printed Page
Writing a children's book involves so much more than creating a story.
There are characters to develop, illustrations to review, pages to arrange, and countless little details to check before the book is ready for printing.
Sometimes the smallest details require the most attention!
My goal is to create books that children will enjoy reading again and again, while giving parents, grandparents, and teachers opportunities to share meaningful experiences with them.
Stories That Become Memories
With To Catch a Fairy, I hope children discover the joy of imagination, curiosity, and adventure.
With Grandma's Magic Quilt, I hope families celebrate the treasured memories and stories passed from one generation to another.
Both books have something especially important to me in common: they're meant to bring people together.
And the journey doesn't end with these two books. There are more stories waiting patiently for their turn!
The Magic Continues
When I look around my writing space, I see more than papers, books, and a computer.
I see possibilities.
Every manuscript represents an idea that began with a spark of imagination and grew into something I hope others will treasure.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
Every story begins with a little imagination!
