Bringing To Catch a Fairy to Life

The Illustrations Behind the Story
One of the most exciting parts of creating To Catch a Fairy was watching the characters I'd imagined come to life through illustrations.
When I began searching for an illustrator, I had very specific ideas about how the children, fairies, and magical surroundings should look.
I wanted the illustrations to capture the wonder, curiosity, and excitement of childhood while bringing the story's characters and settings to life.
Amelia Emma of Tab Graphix was selected to illustrate the book. Her early interpretations of the main characters captured many of the details I'd envisioned, and it was exciting to see the story begin taking visual shape.
As the illustrations developed, we worked through sketches, character details, colors, and page designs to create the artwork for the book.

From Manuscript to Picture Book
Creating a picture book is a detailed process. Each illustration must work with the words on the page while helping young readers experience the story.
From the children discovering a fairy to the magical details hidden throughout the illustrations, every page contributes to the adventure.
My hope is that children will enjoy exploring the pictures as much as they enjoy hearing the story—and perhaps discover something new each time they read it.

The Magic Is in the Details
Creating To Catch a Fairy has been an exciting journey from words on a page to a colorful world filled with children, fairies, flowers, and little surprises.
One of my favorite parts of the process has been seeing the characters I imagined become recognizable personalities through their illustrations.
But creating a picture book also requires attention to the smallest details. The expressions on the children's faces, the colors of their clothing, the magical surroundings, and the placement of the words all contribute to the finished story.
More Than Just a Story
I wanted To Catch a Fairy to offer children something beyond reading the last page and closing the book.
Throughout the story, young readers can search for hidden fairies and discover little surprises in the illustrations.
The book also includes special activity pages designed to encourage imagination, observation, and participation.
These features give children opportunities to return to the story, explore the pictures, and enjoy the adventure in new ways.
A Book to Share
My hope is that To Catch a Fairy becomes a story parents, grandparents, and teachers enjoy sharing with children.
Whether they're reading together, looking for hidden fairies, or completing the activities, I hope families will find opportunities to laugh, imagine, and create happy memories.
I'm grateful to Amelia Emma for illustrating the story and helping bring its characters and magical world to life.
And I'm excited to share the finished book with readers!
Every story begins with a little imagination!
